Patterns That Work: Tips for Styling Beautiful Family Photos

Family photos are a great way to capture memories and create a visual record of your family’s growth over time. However, creating beautiful family photos can be a challenge, especially when it comes to choosing outfits that complement each other and don’t clash. In this post, I’ll share some tips on how to create beautiful family photos based on my own experience.

First, I have a particular color scheme that I and the family love, and we try to stick to it as much as possible. Having a consistent color scheme can help create a cohesive look in family photos.

However, one thing I try to avoid is having too many patterns in one photo. While patterns can be fun and add visual interest, too many patterns can be overwhelming and take the focus away from people’s faces. If I do use patterns, I try to limit it to one or two people in the photo, and I usually choose one of the smaller children because they take up less space in the photo.

For example, in one of my family photo sessions, I intentionally put one of the children in patterns, and it worked well because it added a bit of visual interest without being too distracting. However, if I had put more people in patterns, it could have looked messy and distract from the overall aesthetic of the photo.

When choosing outfits for family photos, I always keep in mind that the focus should be on people’s faces, not their clothes. This means that I try to choose outfits that are comfortable and not too flashy, so that the attention remains on their emotions and personalities.

Conclusion

Creating beautiful family photos is all about finding a balance between personal style and visual appeal. It’s important for us to know the importance of not going overboard with patterns or flashy clothing. By keeping the focus on people’s faces and personalities, we’re able to create beautiful, timeless photos that we’ll treasure for years to come.

If you’re a photographer I hope this helps when you’re guiding your clients on what to wear. What they end up wearing makes such a huge difference and it’s worth taking the time to help them plan their outfits.
